Sarah
Sarah, who is renowned for her “magic hands”, is Zensara’s longest serving therapist. She is trained in almost every modality Zensara offers and jokes that she has made Nature Care College very wealthy. She has been at Zensara since before day one – teaching yoga at Yoga Plus, then massaging at Bodywork Plus, before these small sister businesses morphed into Zensara, as we know it today.
With a checkered career ranging from stage and television in her native New Zealand, and Japan, to getting a language degree and becoming a multi-lingual expatriate in corporate Japan, Sarah feels after eight years in the area of natural therapies and medispa, this is her final career move.
Whilst she may not plan to work as a therapist for much longer, there is a life time of work involved in writing treatment and procedures manuals, putting systems in place ready for Zensara to be franchised, and researching new products and equipment. Sarah, with her aromatherapy background, also formulated Zensara’s impressive 300 strong product range. She confesses she had so much fun doing it, the sheer volume of products got out of control but having such an extravagant range also allows for a huge selection of exciting treatments and packages, unlike any other spa. She maintains that Zensara receives calls from clients all over the world buying gift certificates for their friends and family in Sydney, and others travelling from as far away as Penrith and other suburbs she’d never even heard of to come and experience the packages. She does admit that some of the products will have to be deleted when Zensara’s range is next reformulated and repackaged.
Sarah feels extremely passionate about her work since there is huge scope for variety, which she thrives on. The opening of the new Crows Nest branch in February 2009 has kept her on her toes – doing everything from treatments until everything is running smoothly, through to wearing her entrepreneurial hat. And right now she’s drawing up all the plans to make some major changes, such as putting in a two-person spa and turning the back toilet into a staff room at Crows Nest! Goodness, what will she be up to next?! Keep watching this space. She also has some huge plans to expand the Neutral Bay branch. She’s dreaming about 600 square metres of spa at Neutral Bay. Tokyo and London could be on the horizon too!!! This dynamo doesn’t sleep.
Wafa
This gorgeous therapist gets hugged by many clients, who simply love her. She’s renowned for her caring heart and her compassion. Some clients have even referred to her as an angel.
This mother of three, with an exotic Israeli accent, has called Australia home for the last twenty years or so. Aside from nurturing her own family, Wafa nurtures staff and clients and treats them as family. She frequently cooks exotic food and brings it to work for the team, which keeps everyone smiling.
Wafa is the beauty manager at the Neutral Bay branch. She trains new staff for both branches in the Zensara treatment protocol and makes sure they all dot their ‘i’s and cross their ‘t’s. This angel’s mission is to ensure that all clients have a heavenly experience.
Learning all about new products and treatments is Wafa’s passion. She has taken the time to advance her spa skills, superseding her beauty qualification to study modalities such as aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and reflexology. Coming from a nursing background, she is also particularly interested in how products and treatments are assimilated by the body. She has been Zensara’s representative to attend training at Babor’s headquarters in both the US and Germany. Her latest study mission is talking to plastic surgeons and reading up on Babor’s new Dr Babor range – a cosmeceutical range for pre and post cosmetic surgery, and a gentle alternative to cosmetic surgery. Wafa will know exactly which products and treatments will treat your concerns best, so you can relax and leave your beauty in her hands.
Ana
Ana loves her job! Most days she is at work before anyone else - setting the wheels in motion to seduce you with the ambience - from burning essential oils to putting on mood lighting and music, and making the Neutral Bay spa cosy and welcoming.
If you are wound up and stressed to the max, she is guaranteed to lull you into slumber, whether it’s a massage or a facial you have chosen. Ana’s gift of relaxation goes back to her native Tongan roots. She really is a natural!
In her third year now at Zensara, Ana works away quietly and steadily. She has her own following of regular clients – some who love her to beautify their nails, and others who adore her Hawaiian and rose quartz crystal massages.
Ana is a very grounded, loyal, caring person who goes beyond the call of duty when looking after clients, particularly if they are unwell.
Ana is Wafa’s shadow. She is also greatly involved in teaching new staff the Zensara way of treatments and customer service, to ensure clients have a fabulous experience.
Ana has taken the time to advance her spa skills, superseding her beauty qualification to study modalities such as aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and reflexology.
Steph
If you see a little blonde fairy fluttering around, it’s Steph and she’s bound to dazzle you with her smile. Her radiance and cheerfulness is a delight to encounter. In our line up of staff, Steph is currently our only true Aussie.
If you saw Steph preparing body treatments, you would think she was in the kitchen cooking up a storm and the aromas are just divine. One minute it’s a delicious, gooseberry and red currant body wrap, primed with antioxidants, the next it’s a healing, Italian ‘fango’ mud body wrap. Having danced most of her life, she flits around spreading mouth watering potions all over your body as though she were icing a cake, and then wraps you up and makes sure you are cosy and snug.
In her fourth year at Zensara, Steph, although only part-time with us now, deserves a medal for sticking at a job for so long – especially for one so young. She has also taken the time to advance her spa skills, superseding her beauty qualification to study modalities such as aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and reflexology. We will miss her when she flits off at the end of 2009 for her big ‘OE’.
Miki
Miki does an exquisite aromatherapy massage and facial. This petite, Japanese girl’s hands dance gracefully from limb to limb as she massages, as though in a moving meditation. She is completely focused on her clients’ treatments, taking as much pride in doing them, as if she were creating a work of art.
Miki has taken the time to advance her spa skills at the prestigious ACNT College, superseding the standard beauty qualification to study modalities such as aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and reflexology.
Miki is developing her own following – converting some of Zensara’s long time clients who thought Hawaiian massage was the be all, end all, to aromatherapy massage, with no turning back! It must be that quiet, Oriental mystique that wins the clients over.
Elle
‘Miss Elle from England’ has taken over where Sarah has almost left off with remedial massage. She will give your muscles a great workout, and not a single centimetre will go untouched. Her combination of strength and sensitivity give you the best of both worlds.
Whilst Elle is most interested in therapeutic treatments, especially in relation to muscles, she’s also pretty good at doing facials and body wraps. She is quick and enthusiastic to learn and can turn her comforting hands to almost anything at a second’s notice. She has a regular following of clients at both the Neutral Bay and Crows Nest branches.
