nails - deluxe manicure and pedicure

HandsOur deluxe manicures and pedicures begin with a foot or hand soak and an exfoliation to remove the dead skin cells and sanitise your hands or feet in preparation for your treatment.

We have several of our own Zensara exfoliants, especially created to take care of your hands and feet. Your therapist will ask you to choose the aroma of the products you like best since the point of difference with a Zensara hand or foot treatment is the aromatic journey that goes with it. We ask you to choose from the following:

  1. lemon scented tea tree, patchouli and lemon
  2. lavender and peppermint
  3. eucalyptus, rosemary and pine
  4. lemongrass, ginger and lime

Our signature hand and foot exfoliant contains essential oils of lemon scented tea tree, patchouli and lemon. The lemon scented tea tree has been chosen because it is said to have more anti-bacterial properties than hospital grade disinfectant. Patchouli helps nourish and moisturise your skin, especially dry, cracked heels, and lemon essential oil helps to exfoliate your cuticles. For all these reasons, as well as the fact that most of our clients love the fresh aroma of the products in this series, we have made it our signature range for hand and foot treatments.

Following the exfoliation, we do all the usual things like filing, buffing and cuticle work, and of course painting your nails. Next your hands or feet will be massaged with one of the oils you have chosen, and then painted with clay to revitalise your skin. The clay also helps the oil to be absorbed into your skin to soften and nourish it, while simultaneously drawing out toxins.

hygiene

Our therapists wear gloves when doing any procedures that could draw blood.

Our exfoliants contain essential oils, which not only smell divine, they also sanitise your skin before your therapist begins your manicure or pedicure.

We also follow the correct steps to clean our nail equipment between clients, and as an added precaution, we encourage our therapists to sanitise this equipment before your eyes prior to using it on you.

In most cases we use glass nail files and pedi-paddles, rather than ones made from cardboard and plastic since glass is more hygienic.

We will decline to do manicures and pedicures if you have any of the following disorders:

  1. verrucas
  2. warts
  3. active athlete’s foot or tinea
  4. fungal nail

We have been acknowledged by NSW Department of Health for being one of the few spas that fully comply with their hygiene standards for manicures and pedicures.

body exfoliation

GroomingBody exfoliation removes dead skin cells. It aids circulation, eliminating toxins from the skin, leaving it feeling supple, smooth and clean.

Exfoliation is great before a sauna to stimulate skin circulation and enhance the benefits of the sauna. And by removing the dead skin cells, it helps your spray tan to last longer.

We have over 20 of our own range of sea salt exfoliation products with either essential oils or yummy aromas, such as chocolate, mocha, vanilla, coconut, frangipani, mango, watermelon, lime, etc. Unless you are having tanning or waxing to follow, we use coconut oil based exfoliants, which nourish and moisturise your skin. However, prior to tanning or waxing, we use exfoliants that have a body wash base. And for something different, in the Babor range, we can offer you a herbal exfoliation. (Please see Babor Treatment section.)

spray tan

Being a natural therapies centre, we choose to use Tanline, a more natural spray tan product than most, which comes in light, medium and dark. It contains plantolin, which is clinically tested to heal and rejuvenate skin faster than any other product. It actually helps skin conditions such as eczma. Hydration is amplified, it is fade resistant, it gives a longer lasting tan, it looks real, and it reduces the risk of irritation.

Before your tan:

  1. If you have very sensitive skin, we can do a patch test 24 hours before your spray tan.
  2. We recommend exfoliation, preferrably the day before. This will improve and extend your tanning results.
  3. Please bring underwear or swimwear if you are uncomfortable being naked.

Before, and for at least eight hours after your tan, we recommend that you do not appy deodorant, moisturiser, makeup or perfume.

After your tan:

  • Please bring loose, dark clothing to wear.
  • Do not shower for at least eight hours. If possible, shower the next day.
  • Avoid strenuous activity that will cause excessive perspiration.
  • To extend the life of your tan, apply moisturiser or oil daily.
  • You still need to wear SPF protection as spray tan will not protect you from UV rays.

waxing

Our services include all the usual things like legs, chest, back, and eyebrows. We even wax nostrils and ears, and we do full brazilians for both men and women.

We have a very high percentage of male clients and most of our beauty therapists are well used to waxing backs, chests and tummies. All of our beauty therapists do female brazilians, and some also do male brazilians.

types of wax

For your peace of mind, we only use strip wax (the thin wax, removed by a coarse fabric strip) on legs, backs, chests and arms, etc and hot wax (the thick, peel off type) on the more delicate areas. Some salons and spas use strip wax everywhere on the body because it’s so much cheaper but at Zensara we put your comfort first. Most of our clients have told us that they would rather pay a little more and have a product that is kinder to skin and minimises pain.

The hot wax we use for the more delicate areas such as the face and pubic areas is a natural beeswax product, as opposed to a synthetic product. Over the years we have tried many different hot waxes and found this wax performs well and most of our clients like it. Being a natural therapies centre, we prefer to use natural products wherever possible.

hygiene

For your protection, our therapists wear gloves when waxing and we use a clean disposable sheet for each client. We also sanitise your skin before beginning waxing procedures.

Upon completion of your waxing treatment when your hair follicles are open and therefore vulnerable, we use an anti-bacterial gel on your face and pubic areas, and an anti-bacterial oil on areas such as arms, legs, back, chest and tummy. Since massage is one of our specialties, it’s an opportunity to give you a mini pampering as we massage the oil in to protect your skin.

We also follow the correct steps to clean our tweezers between clients, and as an added precaution, we encourage our therapists to sanitise the tweezers before your eyes prior to using them on you.

If you are a new client, we will give you a copy of our “After Waxing Skincare & Maintenance” sheet, which helps you take care of your skin after your treatment.

We also have a range of take home products to help you take care of your skin after your waxing treatments, and to prepare your skin before your next treatment.

We have been acknowledged by NSW Department of Health for being one of the few spas that fully comply with their hygiene standards for waxing.

tinting

We do tinting with a difference!

Being a natural therapies centre, instead of using vaseline (a petroleum-based product) around your eyes to protect your skin from tint, we use a beeswax alternative as part of our standard tinting procedure.

For our deluxe eyelash tint, we place cooling, rejuvenating Babor eye pads under your eyes. They contain cucumber extracts and are deliciously refreshing for tired or puffy eyes.
